When people try to lose weight they look for all the shortcuts they can. They try every fad diet they can find in the hopes that something works. More often than not they don’t because a fad diet will never be effective. One of the few diets that is super effective for weight loss is the low carb diet. Meat is naturally low in carbs and packed with fat and protein; the two things help make a low carb diet so effective. As such you can eat practically any kind of meat you want any time you want on a low carb diet. Chicken is also a great choice. The only thing is you should eat plain meat and avoid breaded meat and processed meat.

If you’ve looked at the nutritional information of fish you know that they contain almost no carbs or protein. Many of them are also pretty low in fat like tuna. While you can eat all the fish you want you should try and eat the fattier fish like salmon and mackerel.

Dairy and Eggs
You can also eat all the eggs you want no matter how you want it. You can eat boiled eggs, fried eggs, scrambled eggs, etc. The only thing with eggs is that you should try and find organic eggs. The same rule applies to dairy. With dairy you should always eat and drink the full fat options. Buy real butter, 40% fat cream, yogurt and cheese. Try to avoid skim milk and regular milk as they can have a lot of milk sugar. You should also avoid flavored, sugary, and low-fat dairy options.

Nuts are another staple of the low-carb diet. Nuts make for an ideal snacking option when you’re watching TV too. The only problem with nuts is that they’re a little too high in calories and fat so you should enjoy them in moderation. Think of them as being like the snacks of the low-carb diet. They’re great in moderation but too much can be bad for you.

Vegetables and Berries
The best kinds of vegetables for a low carb diet are the ones that grow above ground. This includes cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage, sprouts, zucchini, mushrooms, cucumber, lettuce, avocado, and the list goes on. Berries, much like nuts, should be eaten in moderation if you’re not being incredibly strict about your low carb diet. They taste great with whipped cream and are naturally filled in antioxidants, which will also help you to lose weight.

While there isn’t as much need for calorie counting when on a proper low carb diet that doesn’t mean you can just go crazy and eat whatever you want. It’s always possible to overeat and that’s always going to stop you from losing weight. Even so you should lose a good amount of weight by sticking to the foods we’ve listed here.
